Pre-employment Health Screen Plus

The Health and Safety Executive confirms that high quality pre-employment screening can reduce the risk and/or exposure to absence issues in the future. Our product has been designed to protect the employer.

Key elements of our Pre-employment screen are:

  1. Paper-based: This allows the applicants to complete the health screen before they are offered the job and with the minimum of delay, inconvenience and cost.
  2. Bespoke: Unlike other pre-employment screens, our questionnaire is produced specifically for the employer, with appropriate questions asked that relate to the employers business.
  3. Third party: Whilst the questionnaire is branded for the employer using their logos, it is made clear that the questions are being analysed by the Pre-employment Screening Team at Sussex Medical Centre.
    Prospective employees prefer to know that a specialist organisation is reviewing the answers.
  4. Telephone call: Once the questionnaires have been received and analysed by Sussex Medical Centre every prospective employee is telephoned by a member of Sussex Medical Centers Pre-employment Screening Team. The telephone call is used to question some of the answers and discuss why there may have been certain types of absence, whether they have been resolved or are likely to become issues in the future.
  5. Report to employer: Sussex Medical Center's Occupational Health Director overviews a report, sent electronically to the client, that includes issues and recommendations raised by the pre-employment screen.

Why is the Pre-employment telephone call so vital?
Our experience shows that most prospective employees complete questionnaires assuming that they need to produce answers that will help them obtain the job.

Whilst our screening team is not trying to catch the employee out, by questioning the answers given in the questionnaire we can often find out a lot more detail.

Additionally, the responses given by the employee are recorded and detailed in the report. This allows the employer to use the additional data in future absence or litigation issues.

Employees find the telephone call useful because possibly for the first time in their career they have the opportunity of speaking to an Employment Health Expert.
